Do you have any building codes to adhere to on your project?
Most US states require railing to meet a maximum 4" code for open spaces, and 36" in height for residential application. Commercial installations in the US and Canada require 42" in height for railings.
What type of design would you like, standard or custom?
Choose from the many exciting designs on our website, or work with Rob Gerdin, wildlife artist, to create a new design. What theme do you want? South Western? Contemporary? Select from Six Foot or Eight Foot Standard Railing products which are pre-designed panel inserts. Or, work with us to create a Custom work of art for your project.
What is the process for NatureRails™ custom railing designs?
This solution is perfect when you need exact measurement, irregular-sized panels, special designs, etc. The majority of our work is custom! Once your design is completed it is then faxed, mailed, or emailed to you for your approval or revisions. Three hours of design time is included for every 20 feet of railing ordered. Additional design time is rarely needed, but in the event that your project requires a high level of research and design, additional design time is billed at $75.00 per hour. What is maintenance-free railing?
Maintenance-free railing from NatureRails™ is, well, just that. You receive your NatureRails™ panel with welded square tubing around the perimeter of the panel, which make the panel extra durable. Then a 2.25" wide metal cap rail is welded to the top, to be used as the handrail. Two installation tabs are welded to the sides of each panel, as depicted in our Maintenance Free Installation Guide. This allows for quick, easy, bolt-in installation. After that, you're done! No more annual staining of your wood railing! This all-metal system is just what you need if your looking for something with minimum upkeep. Our durable powder coat finish is applied to all railing products.
Can NatureRails™ be used outdoors?
Absolutely! They not only look gorgeous, but also have the highest quality finish we can apply! NatureRails™ are powder coated for years of maintenance free enjoyment. Unlike paints, powder coating is the best protection against rusting, cracking or fading. View page two of Cardinal Paint's Powder Coat Brochure for detailed product information about our Cardinal Industrial Finishes. Zinc primer is also available for harsh weather and salt water installations.
What type of steel is used in a NatureRails™?
NatureRails™ uses a sheet of 10 gauge steel to cut your product. That is about 1/8" thick. We use this thickness of materials because it is tough, durable, and does not leave sharp edges after cutting out the design. You may wonder why we don't use 1/4" thick steel. Well we certainly can upon request, but it isn't necessary and will just catch more dust as well as making it heavier to ship. A railing that is designed properly to meet code does not need anything thicker than the 10 gauge steel. We can use other materials such as aluminum or copper at your request on custom orders. Call if you have questions, 1-888-743-2325.
